Also known as Terminalia Arjuna, this herb is used in Ayurveda asa hearth tonic and helps reduce skin discolouration (Vyanga).
Arjuna is the quintessential Ayurvedic herb for heart care. Arjuna has a prabhava - a special effect - to soothe the physical and emotional heart. Traditionally used in Ayurveda as a hridya - a heart tonic - to pacify conditions of the heart, encouraging healthy heart function and longevity. Arjuna strengthens the emotional heart as well, imparting the courage and strength to manifest the deeper yearnings of the heart.
Recommended Use
2 servings 2-3 times daily. Dissolve 2 servings (1 serving = 1/4 teaspoon) of arjuna powder to a cup of warm water/milk and drink immediately. Take between meals and allow a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products. 1 serving = 1 gm = 1/4 teaspoon.
Possible Contraindications
If symptoms persist or worsen, or if you experience new symptoms, consult a health care practitioner. Gastrointestinal discomfort and headache have been known to occur; in which case discontinue use. If you have a cardiovascular disorder, consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use. Do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding.
